Weekly lesson plan template with your own subjects
Subjects or class periods run down the side, up to eight, and Monday to Friday across the top. Name them the way your timetable does: guided reading, math block, PE. Pick the week in the editor and the header reads "Week of" with the date of every day, so a printed page never gets mixed up with last week's. Two boxes at the bottom hold the focus standards and the reminders: duty days, meetings, assemblies.
Daily lesson plan template: objective, I do, we do, you do
The daily page follows the gradual release model many schools ask for. Start with the objective in student-friendly words and the standards it covers, list the materials, plan a short warm-up, then the direct instruction, the guided practice and the independent practice. A check for understanding, a differentiation box for support and extension, the closure and homework, and a reflection to read before you teach it again complete the page.
- Objective and standards
- Materials and warm-up
- I do, we do, you do
- Check for understanding and differentiation
- Closure, homework and reflection
Editable lesson plan in Google Sheets and Excel
The spreadsheet version has the same three plans on separate tabs. Type any date of the week on the Settings tab and the weekly plan shows Monday to Friday with their dates. On the unit plan, list the lessons with a date and a topic and mark each one done; a summary counts the lessons planned and taught, the percentage done and the first and last lesson date. It opens in Excel, or upload it to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets. There are no macros.
Fillable PDF lesson plan: type it or print it
Every box in the PDF is a form field, so you can click into it and type in a free PDF reader on a computer or tablet, save, and print a clean copy for a binder or a substitute. Prefer paper? Print it blank on US letter or A4 and write by hand; the ruled lines are spaced for handwriting.
Unit plan with a lesson sequence
The unit page sets out the big idea and essential questions, the standards and goals, and a numbered sequence of twelve lessons with a date, topic, objective, assessment and a done box. Underneath, plan the final assessment and leave notes for the next time you teach the unit.
